Streetcar Work

Dear Lang/Lit students

We have completed our first reading of A Streetcar Named Desire and we need to start looking at it as a whole. The first task I would like you to do is to create a collection of character descriptions and you need to think carefully about how Williams presents each character, being as thorough as you can:
  • What are they like?
  • How do they move?
  • How do they dress?
  • What is their idiolect (how they speak; the type of language they use)?
  • What are their values and beliefs?
  • Are we meant to feel sympathy for them?
  • For each character you need to findat least two or three quotations that support what you think.
Post each character description on your blog.

Don't forget to keep on top of your reading of The Kite Runner too - some of you might need hankies at the ready. I strongly advise you keeping a log of the chapters you have read. Just a few sentences for each chapter as an overview - it will be very helpful when you return to the text for the exam. A good place to put those is on your blog and then they are all in one place.

All the best and happy reading!

Nina

Hello

Hello AS English Lang / Lit students!

Welcome to my blog. I will use this blog to support you with your studies by posting any intetersting articles or links I find. I will also post any powerpoint or word resources we have used in lessons so that you can refer back to what you have learnt!

You need to have your own blog too. I would like you to post a comment each week outlining the reading you have done for the course. This could be chapter or scene summaries and refer to key quotations. You could also post a comment about any wider reading you have done. I am always interested in the books you are currently enjoying. When you have set up your blog, you need to give me your blogspot address and then I can post encouraging comments on what you have done!

Good luck and happy reading!
